ILLEGAL FIREARM RECOVERED DURING MARINE OPERATION

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) Marine Branch intercepted a vessel shortly after midnight on Wednesday, August 20, while conducting routine patrols.

During the operation the vessel was brought to a complete stop and a search was conducted. A semi-automatic Glock pistol was recovered along with two magazines containing several rounds of ammunition.

Three individuals were found on board and were transported to the Road Town Police Station for questioning.

Acting Commissioner of Police Jacqueline Vanterpool commended the officers involved, stating: “The swift actions of our Marine Officers highlight the vigilance and professionalism required to keep illegal firearms off our streets. Each weapon seized represents lives potentially saved. We will continue to pursue every avenue to protect our communities and ensure the safety of the Virgin Islands.

”Investigations into this matter are ongoing, and further updates will be provided as enquiries continue.

The RVIPF remains committed to disrupting the flow of illegal firearms into the Territory and thanks the public for its continued support.
