On numerous occasions, information has been revealed to our newsroom, the pressure applied by UK appointed Governor Daniel Pruce to remove Ag COP Jaqueline Vanterpool, despite confirming last year that she was ‘doing an outstanding job’ while he was being interviewed.
Most recently, yesterday Monday 13th October, information was revealed to our media house that the PSC (Police Service Commission) would convene an emergency meeting per the Governor, to remove Ag COP Jacqueline Vanterpool from acting, and revert her back to her position as Deputy COP. We’re told that the Governor had not suggested a replacement to the PSC, and when asked, said he’d do so within the coming weeks. We’re told the PSC had until the end of today 14th October to respond with a decision, a decision we now understand was an overwhelming unanimous ‘No’ to removing Vanterpool from the head spot.
We also understand the next stop for the Governor would have been the NSC (National Security Council) today, where he intended to share his plans.
Our understanding is that the Governor is unhappy with his inability to control and micromanage Ag COP Vanterpool, and intends to use his constitutional powers to override any democratic process that stands in his way of removing her.
Level of Trust Restored Under Vanterpool Leadership
Ag COP Vanterpool has been acting in the role of COP for just about a year. In that year, there has been rave reviews across the Territory on her management of the Force, her ability to bring her team together, and her approach regarding crime reduction across the Territory.
Under her leadership, Police presence has increased, and the public has regained some level of confidence and trust in sharing information with the Police.
Crime out of Control Under UK Lead Police Force…
For some 20 plus years, the UK has appointed a UK native as Police Commissioner for the Territory, however, crime levels have not improved, but have gotten worst and now a major concern for residents and businesses alike.
Pruce’s Abuse of Power
We understand that Pruce continues to abuse his position and manipulate the recruitment process of selecting a new COP which is now more than a year in the process.
Last year the Governor exercised his powers and halted the COP recruitment process as it headed into the interview stage. The territory is still to understand the reasoning behind his decision.
Pruce once again appears to be interfering in the process as it once again heads into the interview stages of the process. Most wonder if his attempts to remove the local Ag COP at this point is an attempt to weaken her chances at securing the position.
Earlier this year, we understand that Pruce arrived at the Terrance Lettsome International Airport and threw quite the hissy fit when things weren’t going his way. We understand he exerted his power as ‘Governor’ despite there being no place for his behavior in the situation.

This is a breaking news story that we will monitor over the coming days.
Friday October 17th would mark one year since Ag COP Vanterpool has been acting in the position.
