McKeeva Bush Out In Cayman Elections After 40 Years
McKeeva Bush who has been a Member of Parliament for West Bay, later West Bay West, has been beaten by newcomer Julie Hunter, a member of the Cayman Islands National Party.
Hunter, a former supporter and cousin of Bush, beat him by 19 votes in a closely contested general election. Hunter received 474 votes while Bush got 455.
McKeeva Bush first won his seat in the 1984 election, and has held it without interruption ever since. He is the longest-serving political figure in the Cayman Islands, with over 40 years of continuous service as of 2025.
