Norwegian Aqua Commemorates Visit to the British Virgin Islands

The Territory commemorated the visit of Norwegian Cruise Line’s Aqua with a plaque exchange ceremony on 7th May held onboard the vessel while berthed at the cruise pier in Road Harbour, Tortola.

The Norwegian Aqua is the first ship in Norwegian Cruise Line’s Prima Plus Class and brings a fresh wave of innovation to the fleet. One of her standout features is the Aqua Slidecoaster, a hybrid rollercoaster and waterslide. Aqua is currently on a 7-day roundtrip itinerary from Port Canaveral, Florida, with 3,722 passengers and 1,561 crew members onboard and is scheduled to make several calls to the British Virgin Islands throughout the summer season.

A plaque was presented by Honourable Luce Hodge-Smith, Junior Minister for Culture and Tourism, on behalf of the Government and the people of the Virgin Islands, to Captain Ashutosh Chandra in recognition of the occasion. Also present at the ceremony were representatives from the British Virgin Islands Ports Authority, British Virgin Islands Tourist Board and Film Commission, Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park and shipagent, Island Shipping.
