Liverpool Football Star Diogo Jota and Brother Die In Tragic Car Accident

Liverpool and Portugal football star Diogo Jota has tragically died in a car crash July 3, 2025 at around 12:30am. He was 28. Jota played Forward and Midfielder and was known for his finishing, pace, dribbling ability and work rate.

The Premier League footballer and his brother Andre Felipe both lost their lives in a car crash in Zamora near Spain’s north-west border with Portugal. He was driving his Lamborghini at the time of the crash. The devastating incident occurred after the Lamborghini they were in veered off the road and burst into flames, believed to be caused by a tyre blowout.

Jota had recently undergone surgery and been advised not to fly, so was driving from Porto to Santander to catch a ferry to England for pre-season training.

A wake for the brothers is scheduled for 8am this morning at the Capela da Ressurreicao, Portugal, with their funeral to follow on Saturday at 10am at the Igreja Matriz.

Jota started his career with Pacos de Ferreira before moves to Atletico Madrid, Porto and Wolverhampton Wanderers. He spent three years with Wolves ahead of a move to Liverpool in 2020. Jota had made 182 appearances for the Reds, scoring 65 goals.

Diogo Jota married his long time girlfriend just a few days ago, and was a father of three (3). He also leaves his Parents to mourn.
