The British Virgin Islands Ports Authority (BVIPA) is advising the public to collect any cargo they may have at the port facilities within the allotted five working day period. The prompt collection of cargo helps the BVI Ports keep the BVI moving. During the Atlantic Hurricane Season, it is important that cargo be collected quickly due to potential inclement weather.

To accommodate the upcoming Emancipation Festival holiday closure, the BVIPA will extend cargo clearance hours as follows:

Saturday, 2nd August 2025 - 8:30am to 2:30pm

HM Customs will also be open from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to facilitate cargo clearance.

In observance of the Emancipation Festival holidays, the BVIPAoffices and warehouses will be closed on the following days: Monday, 4th August 2025 – Wednesday, 6th August 2025. Our offices and warehouses will resume normal business hours on Thursday, 7th August 2025.

The Cargo Ports at Port Purcell, Tortola and St. Thomas Bay, Virgin Gorda will be closed on Monday, 4th August 2025. This is in accordance with the British Virgin Islands Ports Authority Regulations, 1995, 143 (3), “Every harbour shall normally be closed on Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Festival Monday and Christmas Day.”  Cargo vessels will continue to be facilitated on the 5th – 6th August 2025.
