Despite the sudden and unfortunate death of Thomas Warner, founder of the North Drop Open fishing tournament just a couple weeks ago, the event is set to proceed in a couple weeks. 

A message posted to the event’s Facebook page reads:

“It’s with a heavy heart that we share the news of the loss of Thomas K Warner, a wonderful person whose impact on our community and instrumental role creating the North Drop Open was nothing short of extraordinary. We will forever be grateful for the passion, wisdom, time and love he shared with us all. 💙

Tom was a visionary and was committed to expanding the sport fishing scene in the BVI and region.  We will honor him by continuing the North Drop Open, hopefully for years to come. It’s what he wanted — a celebration!

Let’s move forward in the spirit of unity, love, and remembrance. We can’t wait to see you there.”

The North Drop Open is scheduled for August 6-10, 2025.
