The public is advised that His Excellency the Governor, Mr. Daniel Pruce will remain out of the Territory as he continues the necessary recovery following a minor operation.

A statement on the Governor’s Facebook page read:

‘I’ve been touched by the many kind messages and well wishes I received ahead of my recent surgery. I’m pleased to share that the operation to repair my shoulder was successful. However, my recovery is taking a little longer than expected, and I now anticipate returning to the Virgin Islands in mid-August.

‘This delay unfortunately means I will be unable to attend Emancipation Festival celebrations. I recognise the significance of this commemoration, and I regret not being able to mark it with you in person.

‘I send my very best wishes to all those taking part in the celebrations. May they be joyful, safe, and a meaningful tribute to the history and spirit of the Virgin Islands. I look forward to returning soon.’ Governor Daniel Pruce said  

Deputy Governor, Mr. David D. Archer who acted during the time, up until 5th August, 2025, will be out of Territory, and Mrs Rosalie Adams OBE will has been sworn in as Acting Governor from 6 – 12 August 2025.
