Information reaching our newsroom is that a Digicel technician was injured while working on a pole in West End, on Saturday, September 13, 2025. 

The unfortunate incident is said to have happened late afternoon, when the technician came into contact with a live wire.

Although images show the man hanging unconscious from a pole, according to eyewitnesses, he had regained consciousness before being transported to the Dr. D Orlando Smith Hospital.

Late Saturday afternoon, BVIEC put out the following notice:

“We are informing residents of a temporary outage affecting areas from Pockwood Pond to West End (including Frenchman’s Cay, Belmont, Long Bay, Cane Garden Bay, Carrot Bay, Ballast Bay, Cappoons Bay) and Jost Van Dyke.

The outage stems from an incident in Romney Park and our team is working to restore power as soon as it is safe to do so.

We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.”
