You made it. Happy and at peace.
The BVI Christmas Style
This Christmas came with bass in the background,
wine in my cup,
and no stress on my chest.
String lights dancing like they know the tune,
saltwater air kissing my skin,
and riddim reminding my waist
that life is still sweet.
No long explanations this year.
No heavy hearts at the table.
Just laughter loud enough to drown old memories
and plates full,
because in the BVI,
Christmas is food, music, and freedom.
I’m not checking for nobody.
Not who’s calling,
not who’s watching,
not who suddenly “misses me.”
Baby, I’m busy seasoning my life.
This Christmas, I’m wine-ing slow, I'm wine-ing low,
not running behind confusion or mistreatment,
I’m sipping red,
letting soca heal what silence once bruised,
and letting my joy make noise.
Family close.
Friends loud.
Music shaking the house like it owe me money.
And me?
Looking good, feeling better,
unbothered and moisturized.
I didn’t come this far to be sad in December.
I survived too much for quiet misery.
So yes. I dance.
I laugh.
I eat.
I drink.
I live.
This Christmas isn’t about who's no longer there,
it’s about who stayed: Me.
So pass the wine,
turn up the riddim,
and let the night know,
I’m at peace.
Merry Christmas,
BVI style. 🎄🍷💃🏽
