ROAD TOWN, Tortola, Virgin Islands — Former Miss British Virgin Islands queens will step back into the spotlight this weekend as they join the 2026 contestants for a day of culture, competition, and community spirit at the Royal Court Cultural Fun Day & Fish Fry.

The event, which serves as the premier fundraiser for the Miss British Virgin Islands Pageant, will be held on Saturday, June 20, at the First Impressions School Grounds beginning at 11 a.m.

Organizers say the family-friendly event will celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Virgin Islands while giving residents a rare opportunity to see former pageant titleholders reunite and compete in traditional Virgin Islands games alongside this year’s contestants.

For the first time during the 2026 pageant season, former queens will return to friendly competition, reconnecting with the programme that helped shape their journeys while inspiring the next generation of Virgin Islands ambassadors.

Among the highlights will be team competitions featuring classic Virgin Islands games, including the popular lime-and-spoon race, promising plenty of excitement, laughter, and community engagement throughout the day.

Patrons can also enjoy live entertainment from DJ Dre, performances by the Razor Blades, Plait Polers, and the energetic Grasshoppers Skipping Group, all showcasing aspects of the territory’s vibrant cultural traditions.

The event will offer something for all ages, with bouncy houses and family activities for children, while food vendors serve a variety of local dishes, refreshments, and fish fry favourites.

Chairperson of the Miss British Virgin Islands Pageant Committee, Natalie O. Hodge, described the event as a unique blend of culture, nostalgia, and family entertainment.

“The Royal Court Cultural Fun Day is our premier fundraising event, designed to blend culture, nostalgia, and wholesome family entertainment into one unforgettable experience,” Hodge said.

She added that attendees will have the chance not only to watch former queens return to friendly rivalry but also to meet and support the 2026 contestants as they continue their quest for the crown.

“The event provides another exciting opportunity for the public to rally behind their favourite contestant as the journey to the crown continues, all while celebrating the rich culture and traditions of the Virgin Islands,” Hodge said.

Adding to the excitement, patrons will be able to cast support for their preferred contestant in the race for the coveted Miss Popularity Award, helping contestants build community backing ahead of pageant night.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children.

The Miss British Virgin Islands Pageant Committee also expressed gratitude to its sponsors and partners whose support has helped make the event possible, including the Government of the Virgin Islands, the Virgin Islands Festivals and Fairs Committee, National Bank of the Virgin Islands, DJ Dre, Eclipse VI, First Impressions Child Care Centre, Connect Enterprise Ltd., Crazy Threadz, Nova Vita Prints & Apparels, DLux Cosmetics, BVI Spring, Omar’s Café, Rhythm & Sands, Ms. Cupids Gifts & Things, Studio One, and Infrasonik.

The Royal Court Cultural Fun Day forms part of the official calendar of events leading up to the 2026 Miss British Virgin Islands Pageant, which is scheduled for Sunday, August 2, at the Lavida Cottoy Festiville.

With former queens returning to the stage, cultural performances, traditional games, and strong community support, organizers are anticipating one of the most entertaining events of the pageant season.
