The Ivan Dawson Memorial Scholarship Committee has proudly announced Miss Elizabeth L. Callwood as the 2026 recipient of the prestigious Ivan Dawson Memorial Scholarship.
Elizabeth, a Class Six student at the Ivan Dawson Primary School, graduated as the top student of the Class of 2026. In recognition of her exceptional academic performance, she received several trophies and awards, including the coveted Ivan Dawson Memorial Scholarship for Top Student. She also earned an impressive 10th-place ranking across the Virgin Islands in this year’s primary school assessments.
During the school’s graduation ceremony on July 1, 2026, Elizabeth expressed heartfelt gratitude to God, her family, teachers, and friends for their unwavering support throughout her educational journey.
Addressing her fellow graduates, she reflected on the lessons they learned beyond the classroom.
“This journey has been about much more than academics. Along the way, we learned valuable life lessons about respect, integrity, honesty, kindness, teamwork, compassion, and perseverance. These values will continue to guide us long after we leave the nest.
“Class of 2026, today we celebrate not only what we have accomplished but also who we have become. We leave this school stronger, wiser, and ready for the opportunities ahead. No matter where life takes us, may we always carry the spirit of the Seahawks with pride, continue to support one another, and never forget the place where our journey began.

Twelve-year-old Elizabeth enjoys travelling, designing clothes, reading, and spending quality time with her family. She is the daughter of Mr. Lionel Callwood and Mrs. Luz Adell Callwood of Cane Garden Bay.
With aspirations of becoming a fashion designer, Elizabeth is already demonstrating the dedication and creativity that will undoubtedly serve her well in pursuing her dreams.
