BVI Ports Authority Announces Emancipation Festival Operating Schedule
The British Virgin Islands Ports Authority (BVIPA) has announced its operating schedule for the upcoming 2026 Emancipation Festival holiday period, advising customers, shipping agents, vessel operators and other stakeholders of adjusted hours at Port Purcell.
As the Territory prepares to celebrate Emancipation Festival, the Ports Authority is encouraging members of the public and maritime stakeholders to plan accordingly and extends best wishes for a safe, enjoyable and memorable celebration.
The adjusted operating schedule is as follows:
Saturday, August 1, 2026
- Administrative offices open from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Sunday, August 2, 2026
- Administrative offices closed
- Vessel operations will continue
Monday, August 3, 2026 — Festival Monday
- All offices and operations closed
Tuesday, August 4, 2026
- Administrative offices closed
- Vessel operations will continue
Wednesday, August 5, 2026
- Administrative offices closed
- Vessel operations will continue
Normal Operations Resume
Normal operations across the British Virgin Islands Ports Authority will resume on Thursday, August 6, 2026.
The BVI Ports Authority said it remains committed to maintaining the continuity of essential maritime services throughout the holiday period while supporting the safe and efficient movement of passengers and cargo.
