Deputy Governor David Archer Jr. Sworn in as Acting Governor

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, Virgin Islands — Deputy Governor Mr. David D. Archer Jr. has been sworn in as Acting Governor of the Virgin Islands and will serve in the role from Thursday, July 23, to Monday, August 3, 2026, during the absence of His Excellency the Governor, Mr. Daniel Pruce, who is away from the Territory.

Mr. Archer took the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath for the Due Execution of Office before Her Ladyship, the Honourable Justice Angelica Teelucksingh. The swearing-in ceremony was witnessed by Governor Daniel Pruce prior to his departure.

The appointment is made in accordance with Section 37(1)(a) of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order, 2007, which provides that whenever the Office of Governor is vacant, or the Governor is absent from the Virgin Islands or otherwise unable to perform the functions of the office, the Deputy Governor shall act as Governor during His Majesty’s pleasure and carry out the responsibilities of the office.

As Acting Governor, Mr. Archer will perform the constitutional duties and responsibilities of the Governor until Mr. Pruce returns to the Territory on August 3.
