Brewers Bay, August Tuesday Picnic

Jul 29, 2026 0 Comments

The Brewers Bay Action Committee (BBAC), in partnership with Agape Total Life Ministry, will once again host the Brewers Bay August Tuesday Picnic. This event promises to be a fun-filled day with cultural activities such as Storytelling with Elmore Stout, Kayak Rides and Races, swimming races, a cultural fashion show, fish-cleaning demonstrations, and other traditional fun activities. Elmore Stout and son will also provide cultural music.

Have you ever eaten a tart or bread baked on a coal pot? Well, you are in for a treat... all day long, the delectable aroma of Guavaberry, coconut, pineapple, Brewers Bay guava tarts, dumb bread, and coconut bread being baked.   Other delicious local foods, pastries, and drinks will be available.

Another special treat centers around our local almond. Brewers Bay is known for its many almond trees.  There will be an almond-pounding contest to see who can crack the most almonds within a period of time. We will have someone demonstrating how to make almond sugar cake.

The Brewers Bay community has historically contributed to the emancipation festivities by hosting festive cultural events. The President of BBAC, Mr. Claudius Rymer said: ‘We are committed to reviving and enhancing this tradition. Last year was a success, and we intend to make this year’s event even more successful.’ Vice president, Mr. Troy Christopher, stated: ‘This event is just one of many community initiatives to showcase the rich traditions of our small but vibrant community. Our community is steeped in a rich history that goes back to our emancipation. One of the first stones towards our emancipation was thrown from right here, Brewers Bay. We are proud of our history.”

This event is part of the community's fundraising efforts. Proceeds from these events will go toward various initiatives to enhance the natural beauty of Brewers Bay for the enjoyment of the residents and visitors.

The Brewers Bay Action Committee (BBAC), established in 2011, is a non-partisan and non-political committee whose mission is to advance and advocate on behalf of the Brewers Bay Community so that pertinent issues affecting the community and its residents are addressed, and the quality of life of the residents is enhanced. The Committee's focus is to rebuild cohesiveness among the residents through community outreach activities, establishing a Neighbourhood Watch Program, developing and implementing an action plan to address all the major issues affecting the community, and providing support and assistance to residents in times of crisis.

The public is invited to attend the Brewers Bay August Tuesday Picnic on August Tuesday (4th August) from 10 a.m. until at the Brewers Bay Park.  You will not be disappointed as this event is designed to bring our community back to life, promote our culture, celebrate our emancipation as we raise funds to achieve our shared goals!”
