Jul 30, 2026 0 Comments

The Office of the Supervisor of Elections is reminding eligible residents that Friday, August 28, 2026, is the deadline to register to vote in order to be included on the Territory’s 2026 preliminary voters list.

To qualify for registration, individuals must be a Belonger under Section 2(2) of The Virgin Islands Constitution Order, 2007, be at least 18 years of age, and be domiciled in the Virgin Islands.

Applicants must present one of the following documents when registering:

  • A Virgin Islands passport bearing the embossed seal;
  • A Belonger Card;
  • A Belonger Certificate; or
  • A Naturalisation Certificate dated before June 15, 2007.

The Office is also encouraging registered voters who have changed their place of residence within the Territory to update their voter registration by applying for a transfer to their new electoral district or polling division.

Under Section 17(1) of the Elections Act, Revised Laws of the Virgin Islands, 2013, registered voters who move from one electoral district or polling division to another may request to have their names transferred, provided they complete the required application form and satisfy the Supervisor of Elections that they now reside in the new district.

Proof of residence may include a utility bill for cable, water, electricity or telephone services, a rent receipt, lease agreement, or a notarised document confirming the applicant’s new address.

Registration and voter transfer forms are available from the Office of the Supervisor of Elections, the Road Town Post Office, District Offices on Anegada and Virgin Gorda, and the Government Office on Jost Van Dyke.

Forms can also be downloaded from the Office of the Supervisor of Elections page on the Government of the Virgin Islands website under the Services tab.

Residents wishing to complete registration or transfer applications in person are encouraged to schedule an appointment by contacting the Public Service Customer Service Care Centre at 468-3701 or by booking online through the Government’s appointment portal.
