MAN ARRESTED AFTER FIREARM AND AMMUNITION RECOVERED IN BAUGHERS BAY

Road Town, BVI — August 18, 2026: A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged following the recovery of a firearm and ammunition during a police operation in Baughers Bay.

Officers of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), including members of the Armed Response Unit and Special Patrol Team, conducted a stop and check in the area on Saturday, August 15.

During the operation, police identified the individual as 20-year-old Vern Frett and reportedly found him in possession of a Glock pistol and 11 rounds of ammunition.

Frett was arrested and taken into police custody. He was subsequently charged with Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Unlawful Possession of Explosives, and Failing to Comply with an Order Given by Police.

He remains in police custody pending an appearance before the Magistrate’s Court.

The RVIPF said the operation forms part of its ongoing proactive efforts across the Territory to remove illegal firearms from communities and enhance public safety.

Police are reminding residents and visitors that the possession of illegal firearms and ammunition is a serious offence.

Anyone with information concerning illegal firearms or other criminal activity is encouraged to contact the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9512 or provide information anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 800-8477 (TIPS).
