The Speaker of the Virgin Islands House of Assembly, the Honourable Corine N. George-Massicote, has launched the second issue of the House’s official newsletter, House Matters.

The first issue was released during the 75th anniversary of the restoration of legislation in the Virgin Islands. The latest edition continues the publication’s aim of keeping residents informed about legislative business, regional and international engagements, and the standards guiding the work of the House.

Issue 2 provides expanded coverage of legislative activities, the House’s regional and international engagements, and the procedural and ethical standards underpinning its work.

Welcoming readers to the new issue, Speaker George-Massicote said the newsletter was created to help residents better understand the work of the House and how it affects their daily lives.

“The House belongs to the people, so it is important that everyone has the opportunity to know what is happening and why it matters,” she said.

She added that the House has continued efforts to strengthen and modernise Parliament, including debating and passing legislation, engaging with regional and international partners, improving its operations and building a more open and accountable institution.
