ROAD TOWN, Tortola — The Restorative Justice & Pathways Conference 2026 is officially underway, bringing together more than 130 public officers for two days of learning, dialogue and collaboration focused on restorative justice and social reform.

The conference has also attracted 12 international experts from across the world, who are sharing their knowledge, experiences and perspectives on restorative approaches, justice reform and the development of practical pathways for positive social change.

Day One featured a dynamic programme designed to encourage meaningful discussion and the exchange of ideas, providing participants with an opportunity to examine how restorative justice principles can be applied within existing systems and communities.

The gathering represents a significant milestone for the Virgin Islands, while also carrying broader importance for the Caribbean as jurisdictions explore approaches to strengthening justice systems and addressing the social factors that contribute to conflict, harm and reoffending.

Through presentations, dialogue and collaboration with international practitioners, participants are being encouraged to consider new approaches and identify practical opportunities for reform that can be adapted to the Virgin Islands context.

The conference provides a platform for public officers and international experts to share perspectives, examine existing practices and explore how restorative justice can contribute to stronger communities and more responsive systems.

As the programme continues, discussions are expected to focus on building practical pathways that can support lasting social reform and strengthen the Territory’s approach to justice, rehabilitation and community wellbeing.

The Restorative Justice & Pathways Conference 2026 underscores the Virgin Islands’ participation in a wider regional and international conversation about how justice systems can evolve to better address harm, accountability, rehabilitation and restoration.
