MALE CHARGED IN GRUESOME BEATING OF MINOR
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force has arrested and charged one male in connection with an assault involving a minor, which has generated significant public concern following the circulation of a video of the incident on social media.
Police investigations confirm that the matter was reported on January 15, and was treated with urgency by officers. As a result, Mr. Vidal Farrington, 30 of The Valley, Virgin Gorda was arrested and charged with Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm. He was subsequently granted bail and is scheduled to appear before the Magistrate’s Court on March 26, 2026.
While the RVIPF confirm that the matter was treated with urgency, the RVIPF have not confirmed an arrest date of the offender, leaving the public to believe that the Police action was as a result of the outrage by the public.
Acting Commissioner of Police Richard Ullger stated, “We understand the level of concern this incident has generated within the community, particularly given the nature of the footage circulated. While public reaction is understandable, I urge members of the public to allow the investigative and judicial processes to take their course. The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force remains committed to ensuring that matters of this nature are handled thoroughly, fairly, and in accordance with the law.”
The RVIPF strongly discourages the sharing of violent or sensitive content, especially where minors are involved, as this may cause further trauma to victims and potentially impact the investigation. Members of the public are urged to report incidents directly to the police and to allow the justice system to take its course.
Persons with information on any investigation can contact the RVIPF’ Intelligence Unit at 368-9339 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 800-8477 or 284-800-8477 from overseas.
