Easter in the islands
don’t come quiet,
it comes alive.
With boats slicing through blue waters,
engines roaring like celebration,
the sea carrying loud laughter,
from one island to the next. Island Hopping, Bars overcrowded, music blasting.
Coolers packed.
Families gathered
like tradition never left.
The smell of food in the air,
fish frying, pig roasting,
bread baking,
hands busy, hearts full.
Good Friday moves peaceful,
church bells ringing, calm hearts
heads bowed,
gratitude sitting gently on the soul but Fish cakes on the menu for dinner on the kids mind.
Then the weekend opens,
Beach days stretching long,
dominoes slamming on tables,
riddim flowing through the breeze
like the island itself is dancing.
