MALE CHARGED WITH ILLEGAL FIREARM ON VIRGIN GORDA
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has charged one male following the recovery of a firearm and a quantity of suspected cannabis during routine patrol on Virgin Gorda.
On Thursday, March 27, 2026, officers attached to the Virgin Gorda Police Station were on mobile patrol when they observed a male acting in a manner that aroused suspicion in the vicinity of a local establishment. Officers approached the individual and conducted a search, during which a firearm was discovered on his person.
A subsequent search of a nearby vehicle, carried out in the presence of the individual, resulted in the discovery of a quantity of green vegetable matter suspected to be cannabis.
The individual, identified as Kyle Kabel, 26 of Valley, Virgin Gorda was arrested and later formally charged with:
• Carrying a Firearm Without a Licence (Glock .45 Handgun)
• Unlawful Possession of Explosives (five rounds of .45 calibre ammunition)
• Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Drug (31g of Cannabis)
He appeared before the Magistrate’s Court and was remanded to His Majesty’s Prison until May 2026.
The RVIPF continues to take a zero-tolerance approach to illegal firearms and controlled drugs. Members of the public are reminded that possession of illegal weapons and substances is a serious offence and will be dealt with accordingly.
