ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI — Anticipation is building for the 2026 Virgin Islands Icon Awards (VIcons), as organisers prepare for another major celebration of culture, creativity, entrepreneurship and national achievement across the Virgin Islands.

The annual red-carpet awards ceremony has quickly become one of the territory’s most talked-about entertainment and recognition events, honouring outstanding Virgin Islanders, residents and members of the diaspora who have made significant contributions in their respective fields. Organisers say the 2026 edition is expected to be bigger, more glamorous and more impactful than previous years.

According to the official VIcons platform, the awards recognise excellence across more than 26 categories, ranging from media, music and entrepreneurship to tourism, education, humanitarian work and sports.

The organisation says its mission is rooted in the long-standing Virgin Islands proverb of “giving people their flowers while they are alive,” while creating a year-round platform to highlight positive achievements throughout the territory.

Earlier this month, organisers announced that 64 nominees had officially advanced across 13 categories following public nominations and deliberations by the awards’ Assembly of Judges.

Executive Producer Kareem Nelson-Hull has previously stated that the production team continues to expand and refresh the show by introducing new categories and public engagement initiatives designed to keep the awards relevant and inclusive.

Beyond the awards ceremony itself, the programme also includes the VIconic Training Academy, which provides young Virgin Islanders with hands-on training in production management, sponsorship coordination, script writing, talent management and event operations. Organisers describe the academy as a major investment in youth development and creative industries within the Virgin Islands.

The awards platform endured controversy following the 2025 show after organisers alleged that a contracted memorabilia supplier misappropriated funds intended for event materials and student items. Despite the setback, organisers later confirmed that the delayed materials had finally arrived in the territory and thanked supporters for their patience.

Despite those challenges, public interest in the event has remained strong, with many supporters praising the awards for spotlighting positive stories and achievements in the Virgin Islands community.

The date and venue for the 2026 awards ceremony are expected to be announced in the coming months, with organisers promising an evening featuring live entertainment, cultural showcases, fashion, and recognition of some of the territory’s most influential figures.

The Virgin Islands Icon Awards continues to position itself as one of the region’s premier celebration platforms, bringing together culture, business, entertainment and community leadership under one stage.
