The Government of the Virgin Islands has advanced its efforts to strengthen protections for victims and survivors of domestic violence through a second stakeholder consultation focused on reviewing and modernising the Domestic Violence Act, 2011.

The consultation, facilitated by Ministerial Special Adviser on Gender Affairs, Ms. Patricia Hackett, brought together representatives from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force, His Majesty's Prison, H. Lavity Stoutt Community College, the Department of Immigration, BVI Seventh-day Adventist School, the Magistracy, the Department of Labour and Workforce Development, St. George's Episcopal Church, His Majesty's Customs, the BVI Christian Council, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sustainable Development, Women in Need (WIN) BVI, the Sister Islands Programme Unit, St. George's Secondary School, the Social Development Department, the BVI Methodist Church, and guidance counsellors from the Virgin Islands school system.

The consultation forms part of a broader initiative to strengthen the Territory's response to domestic violence through enhanced legislation, improved coordination among service providers, and greater protections for victims and survivors.
