ST. CROIX, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — Two brothers were killed in a shooting in Castle Coakley early Sunday morning, bringing the U.S. Virgin Islands’ homicide total for 2026 to 30.
The victims have been identified as 30-year-old Yordani Eduardo and his 25-year-old brother, Delli Eduardo.
According to the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD), the shooting occurred in the vicinity of La Terraza Bar and Restaurant in Castle Coakley.
The 911 Emergency Call Center received multiple reports of gunshots and two people being shot at approximately 4:13 a.m. Sunday.
Officers and Emergency Medical Services personnel were dispatched to the area.
When police arrived, they found one of the brothers lying on the ground, unresponsive, with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second brother was transported by private vehicle to Juan Luis Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police said the victims’ next of kin subsequently identified both men.
Double Homicide Under Investigation
The VIPD’s Criminal Investigation Bureau is investigating the incident as a double homicide.
Authorities have not publicly disclosed a motive, identified a suspect, or indicated whether anyone has been arrested in connection with the killings.
The investigation remains active, and police said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
The latest killings have once again placed Castle Coakley under scrutiny. The area has been the scene of violent incidents in previous years, including fatal shootings.
USVI Homicide Count Reaches 30
Sunday’s double homicide pushes the territorywide number of killings recorded in 2026 to 30.
St. Croix now accounts for 17 homicides, while St. Thomas has recorded 13.
The latest figures underscore the continuing challenge posed by gun violence across the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Earlier this year, three homicides reported on a single day in June pushed the territory’s total to 20. At that point, the killings were evenly divided between St. Croix and St. Thomas, with 10 on each island.
Since then, the number of killings on St. Croix has increased significantly, with the island now accounting for more than half of the territory’s reported homicides this year.
Police Appeal for Information
The VIPD is appealing to anyone who may have been in the Castle Coakley area around the time of the shooting, or who may have information that could assist investigators, to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to contact 911 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
As investigators work to establish what led to the deadly shooting, two families are left grieving the loss of two brothers in the early morning violence.
The killings also bring the territory’s 2026 homicide toll to a sobering 30, renewing concerns about gun violence and public safety across the U.S. Virgin Islands.
