GEORGETOWN, GUYANA — The British Virgin Islands Ports Authority (BVIPA) has secured another major regional accolade, winning the prestigious Nathan Dundas Cruise Port of the Year Award at the Caribbean Shipping Association’s (CSA) 56th Annual General Meeting, Conference and Exhibition.
The conference and awards ceremony were held in Georgetown, Guyana, from October 25–28, 2026.
The award recognises excellence and measurable improvements in Caribbean cruise port operations, including infrastructure development, operational efficiency, passenger experience, safety, security and sustainability.
Named in honour of the late Nathan Dundas, a respected advocate for the Caribbean cruise industry, the award celebrates ports demonstrating a commitment to advancing the region’s maritime and cruise sectors.
BVIPA CELEBRATES REGIONAL RECOGNITION
Representing the Ports Authority at the conference were Board Chairperson Dion Stoutt, Board Member Jeremy Vanterpool, Manager of Operations Bryan Scatliffe and Warehouse Officer Wilford Blyden.
Stoutt welcomed the recognition, describing it as a testament to the Authority’s continued progress, dedication to excellence and commitment to strengthening the Virgin Islands’ maritime sector.
Acting Managing Director Dean Fahie also highlighted the collective efforts behind the achievement, crediting the Authority’s employees and industry partnerships.
“This prestigious award reflects the dedication of our employees, the strength of our partnerships and our commitment to excellence,” Fahie said.
He added that the recognition was particularly meaningful as the Authority celebrates 35 years of service.
“As we celebrate 35 years of service, this recognition reinforces our vision to continue transforming our ports and strengthening the Virgin Islands’ position within the Caribbean maritime industry,” Fahie stated.
SECOND MAJOR CSA AWARD IN TWO YEARS
The latest achievement comes as BVIPA marks its 35th anniversary under the theme, “Our Journey. Our Success. Transforming the Future Together!”
It also follows the Authority’s receipt of the CSA’s Ludlow Stewart Container Port of the Year Award in 2025, highlighting its performance across both cruise and cargo operations.
The CSA’s annual conference brings together maritime leaders, port authorities and industry stakeholders to promote regional collaboration, innovation and sustainable maritime development.
The Ports Authority said the latest recognition further strengthens the Virgin Islands’ reputation as a leading Caribbean cruise destination.
The award also reaffirms BVIPA’s commitment to safe, efficient and innovative port operations that support tourism, commerce and economic development throughout the Territory.
